Abstract | The article first describes the modular system of Social Care education in Further Education Colleges and Universities. Then findings of a study are reported which was carried out in four Scottish higher education institutions with "Social Care entry qualifications, representing all the institutions in Scotland offering direct entry to undergraduate Diploma in Social Work programmes". From the 20 persons which had entered this new vocational route 13 participated in the study. They were asked to reflect on their Social Care experience "with particular reference to its usefulness as preparation for your present course." From the interview material the authors draw consequences for the issue of assessing competences. (DIPF/Bi.) |
